Hi Jimmy,
After some research, I went and brought the Heavy Water Digital Tide Watch. I found that the hands on the Graviton to get in the way of viewing the
digital screen. I’m very happy with the Heavy Water and its tide times are close to the tide book predictions.

I needed to get a new watch as my old one finally died after a few good years of service. I’d looked at the Reactor range of watches before, so it was only a matter of choosing witch model best suited my needs.
Knowing exactly what the tides are doing is a very important thing to me. So after a lot of research, the model I ended up choosing was the Reactor Heavy Water World Tide Digital Watch. With this watch you have 30 preset and five programmable tide locations for around the world.
I’ve had the watch for a couple of days now and have programmed in tide times for the Gold Coast (preset) and Twin Islands in the Torres Straits (custom). Both the settings have been very close to the tide book predictions.
The only extra idem I have on the watch is a 1mm neoprene wrist band (see below). I’ve had a few watches get ripped of my arm in the surf and lost forever. At a cost of $5, it’s a small price to pay knowing that your watch is still going to be on your arm . . . no matter what!

Dear Jimmy,
I am after some more detailed information about the tide times on the Graviton watch. I do solo sea kayaking expeditions around Australia. I’ve just finished a 1000km solo paddle up and across to Papua New Guinea (www.seamongrels.com). My watch that I have at the moment is a Casio Sea Pathfinder.
I found that it was absolutely no good at giving the correct tide times, with it being up to 6 hours wrong. With paddling the Torres Straits between Australia and Papua New Guinea, you need to know the tides as they are almost impossible to paddle against. Sometimes the time difference is only three hours between tides, or there is only one tide for the day.
I am looking at doing another expedition in the coming months of a distance of about 3000km. It will be from the Torres Straits all the way around to Western Australia. Would your Graviton watch be able to give a more accurate tide time than what I have at the moment in these areas.
Thanks in advance, Anthony Malloch
